1e LLCE - Mrs G - Homework for 31 March

Good morning dear pupils! Here is the work to do for Tuesday 31 March.

It is important that you do it in the order given below to keep the logic of it.

1) Word challenge: "No pain, no gain."
Try to use it in the work or e-mails you will send me.

2) Gothic legacy. Who is the most gothic director of all times?
Think it through before you open the picture “21 Filmography” sent to you by mail.
Look at all the movie posters in the document and identify the elements that pertain to the gothic genre.
((You have plenty of time to watch one or more of his movies. My personal favourites? Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow and Big Fish.))

3) Watch the video below.
Fill in the worksheet sent to you by mail page 1. (doc "23 Vincent - TB")
THEN (and only then) check the correction and read the script. (doc "23 Vincent - TB CORRECTION)
Of course, go and check the unknown words online.

4) Who was Vincent Price? Do a quick web search to learn about him: Who was he? What was he most famous for?

5) Read the text 24 Reading Comprehension” and answer the questions. Send the answers back to me for correction.

6) What is the link between Vincent Prince and Michael Jackson? Do a quick web search.

7) Karaoke Time!
Go to YouTube to watch the whole “Thriller” music video once to get a good feel of the atmosphere.
Watch the video below. Your goal will be to KARAOKE on it!
Record your karaoke in sync with the music video. Work on pronunciation and intonation!!!

8) Enter the karaoke competition by sending me your audio!

1e LLCE - Mrs G - Homework for Tuesday 24 March

1) WORD CHALLENGE of the day: "Food For Thought"
Find the explanation of the idiom here: https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/food+for+thought
Try to use it in your work for bonus points!

2) Record an AUDIO that will explain the keywords you have used in your poster. Do this without notes! Imagine that you are explaining your poster to your schoolmates in class (as you would have done without this darn covid!). The audio must be at least 2mn but do not speak for 15mn either!
I have chosen this keyword because...
I have picked that keyword since...
I think the best keywords to talk about the manifold influences of gothic are... as...
What you have to know about the influences of gothic is that...

I will listen to them and send you back the best ones as correction for the work.

3) Read the ARTICLE entitled "Types and Influences of Gothic Literature" (sent by mail) and watch the VIDEO below.
Take notes of everything you understand.

4) Create a TIMELINE on the gothic genre using these notes and everything we have done in class since the beginning of the unit.
In this timeline, I want to see the main works of fiction (title, date, author) AS WELL AS what was happening in the society at that time (type of era, type of society, changes, specific events, general events, galvanism, spiritualism, capitalism, etc.)
The goal is to create a timeline that will show how literature and society are connected.
This timeline must look good!
You can create an online interactive timeline or draw one. => illustrate it with book covers, pictures, drawings, videos, etc.

You can use this free online tool (or any other tool that you know) and send me the link or the address if you want:

If you can collaborate with your friends remotely and create 1 timeline for 2, it's perfectly ok for me.

Amazing India = Term LNC Watch this and fill in the worksheet I sent you!
